   date: 7/26/06 rev g sp084 5a low dropout linear regulator ? 2006 sipex corporation sp1084 general description the s p1084 is a series of low dropout positive voltage regulators with a maximum dropout of 1.5v at 5a of load current. the series features on-chip thermal limiting which provides protection against any combination of overload and ambient temperatures that would create excessive junction temperatures. it also includes a trimmed band-gap reference and a current limiting circuit. the s p1084 is available in 1.5v , 1.8v , 2.5v , 2.85v , 3.3v and 5.0v versions. the fixed versions integrate the adjust ment resistors. it is also available in an adjustable versio n which can set the output voltage with two external resis tors. the s p1084 series is available in standard packages of to-263-3, to-220 and to-252. features g low dropout v oltage: 1.3v t ypically at 5a g current limiting and thermal protection g output current: 5a g current limit: 6.5a g operating junction t emperature range: 0 to 125 o c g line regulation: 0.015% (t ypical) g load regulation: 0.2% (t ypical) g available in rohs compliant, lead free packaging applications g high efficiency linear regulators g battery chargers g post regulation for switching supply g microprocessor supply g desktop pcs, risc and embedded processors supply figure . package t ypes of sp084 to-252 to-220 to-263-3 to-263-3 1 2 3 adj/gnd output input 5a low dropout linear regulator solved by tm
